School nurses, school social workers and school psychologists are available on the front line - in the school setting - for immediate assistance for any eligible student who needs PAF services.

POVERTY

  • 72% of all DPS students quality for free or partial pay lunches
  • 34% of elementary students are a part of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Colorado Works

SPECIAL EDUCATION

  • 7,100 students are served on any given day during school year

MOBILITY

  • Average mobility rate at elementary level is 129%

CHILD ABUSE

  • A total of 868 child abuse reports were called in to the Denver Department of Human Services by DPS personnel (1998)

PREGNANCIES

  • In poor neighborhoods, more than half of all births are to single mothers
